This area, known as Westlake-East, is a diverse group of neighborhoods that function much like a small town. Each neighborhood has its own style, amenities and price range. This area contains the small cities of Rollingwood and West Lake Hills, each with its own mayor and city council.

They are unified by the Eanes school district with its single high school - Westlake High. Westlake High has been listed on Newsweek's list of the top high schools in the nation. The school was identified by the College Board as having the strongest AP Physics program in the world. Much like a small town, the local business community frequently shows its support by putting up banners supporting the high school during playoffs in various sports.

Much of the terrain in Westlake is rugged hills covered with native vegetation. Care has been taken to keep the natural environment in both residential and commercial areas. The combination of scenic terrain, central location, excellent schools and strong sense of community make Westlake a very sought after area for both newcomers and Austinites.
