Museums in Austin.

Museums are a fun place to take the kids, and help to make your house hunting trip a mini vacation. To get a feel for Austin, visit some of our many museums and gardens.

LBJ Presidential Library and Museum - Learn about President Johnson and this eventful period in our nation's history.

Historic Home of O. Henry - This Queen Ann style cottage has been restored and contains memoirs from the life of O. Henry, the master of the short story.

Blanton Museum of Art - The Blanton has a notable permanent collection of Old Master paintings, and modern and contemporary American and Latin American art. At Congress & MLK Blvd.

Elisabet Ney Museum - Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood, this is the home of sculptress, Elisabet Ney. Her home has stood as a public artistic center since 1911.

The Austin Museum of Art Downtown - Exhibitions of modern and contemporary art from around the world. Located at 823 Congress Avenue.

The Austin Museum of Art Laguna Gloria - Located in the historic Driscoll House in a beautiful lakeside setting at 809 W. 35th Street.

Texas Memorial Museum of Science and History
- A joint effort of the University of Texas and the State, this museum preserves the historic treasures of Texas.

The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum
- Recently opened museum that tells the story of Texas. Includes an IMAX movie theater.

Umlauf Sculpture Garden - This collection of work by sculptor, Charles Umlauf is displayed outdoors in a native garden.

Bremond Block of historical homes
- Start at the corner of Guadalupe and 8th Street, and take a walking tour of this historic area.
